Middle School Students Selected for Honor Choirs
Five MCAS middle school students will take part in two area honors choirs in early 2018.
Krueger 8th grader Savannah Holley, Barker 8th grader Isabelle Eaton, and Barker 7th graders Kirsten Carlson and Hope Davis-Bey have all been selected for the IMEA (Indiana Music Educator's Association) Middle School Honor Choir. Participants are selected by anonymous recorded audition, from entries received from school districts across Indiana. The students will join other chorus students from around the state at the IMEA convention in Fort Wayne on January 11-12, 2018. They will prepare their music, work with a guest conductor, and perform a concert at the convention. These students will also be participating in Circle the State With Song festival in March.
In addition, Krueger's Savannah Holley and 8th grader Erica Knudson have been selected to sing with the Girls Middle School Honor Choir for the Central/North Central American Choral Directors Association Divisional Conference in Chicago. They will join 200 girls from a 10-state area who will rehearse for three days and present a final concert at the Harris Theatre at Millenium Park on Saturday, February 17, 2018.
The vocalists are students of Barker Middle School choral director Stephanie Sobecki and Krueger Middle School choral director Shirley Allen.
