Learning (Early!) About Careers
On December 13, 2013, students from Mrs. Kuehl and Mrs. Bellerose's first grade classes at Marsh Elementary visited the A. K. Smith Center to see what happens in LaPorte County CTE classes. This field trip tied in with a five-week Junior Achievement unit, during which the children learned about families, jobs, wants and needs, and map reading. JA volunteers for these classes were Robin Kohn of the Michigan City Public Library and Betsy Kohn of MCAS.
The class discussed how people acquire the skills they need for jobs...which help them pay for their wants and needs! Special thanks to Mrs. Shriner and her Early Childhood Education Class, which led first graders on the tour of the A. K. Smith Center.
