Barker Teachers Taking Students Around the World--Virtual Reality Style
Barker Science teacher, Amy Hamann, and Social Studies teacher, Mariah Pol are using Virtual Reality to take their students around the world with a virtual reality classroom kit. Hamann and Pol wrote a grant through the Michigan City Community Enrichment Corporation last fall to purchase the virtual reality classroom set. This kit is enhancing their curriculum and connecting students to the real world to bring Science and Social Studies to LIFE for their students. This modern technology also supports Barker Middle School's goals as an Indiana STEM Certified Middle School and Museum of Science & Industry School Partner. Hamann and Pol hope to inspire our next generation of scientists, technicians, mathematicians, and engineers by using virtual reality in their classrooms.
