Barker Raises $1,805 for Hoops for Heart
Barker Middle School students did it again, raising $1,805 to support the American Heart Association through a "Kids Heart Challenge" fundraiser. For a minimum donation of $5.00, students reported to the gym during last class period before Spring Break on March 29 for some heart-healthy activities. More than 200 students took part in the effort spear-headed by the Barker Student Council and teacher advisor Mariah Pol. Madison Rabatine (7th grader) was Barker's top fundraiser who brought in $600 for the cause. Madson said that most of the funds were donated by relatives in memory of her father, Walace Rabatine, who died of a heart condition when she was 7 years old. The fundraiser has become a traditino at Barker, where $14, 800 has been raised in the past 10 years!!
