Patriot's Pen Essay Contest Winners
Barker Middle School 2016 VFW Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest Participants and Winners Celebrating Veteran’s Day
The Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2536 sponsored the annual “Patriot’s Pen Essay” contest. This year’s topic was “The America I Believe In”. Barker Middle School’s language arts classes of Ms. Frever and Mr. Olson were required to compete in the contest as a project in their classes to celebrate Veteran’s Day 2016. The top essays were chosen to submit to the VFW local contest. Forty-two entries were selected to be submitted to the contest panel of judges. The local post awarded participation awards and Barker Middle School had 3 school winners whose essays were forwarded to the district competition.
Each essay submitted received a $5.00 prize for their participation
