Dr. Barbara Eason-Watkins came into visit and read to the Kindergarten cohort on Friday, December 20, 2013. Reading can make student's dreams come true. Dr. Eason-Watkins came in and read enthusiastically to the Kindergarten classes at Joy School who had the opportunity to not only hear a good story, but also were afforded the chance to practice their "Life Skills," such as, active listening, audience behavior, guest procedures, learning through listening, whole group participation, questioning, answering questions, communication skills, and academic excellence.
What’s the most important trait you’d like to develop in your child? If you’re like most parents, intelligence is probably at the top of your list. We all want bright, smart children, which is why we spend so much time choosing the right schools and making sure teachers are exceeding expectations. But remember: as a parent, you have the power to boost your children's learning potential simply by making books an integral part of their lives. Reading is paramount here at Joy Elementary School. As you can see we model it from the top down, we encourage you to continue to read with your children and we thank Dr. Barbara Eason-Watkins for taking time out of her busy schedule to come be part of the "Culture of Excellence" we have established at Joy School.
