    Pre-Kindergarten Information
    YMCA Pre-K

    Michigan City Area Schools strongly believes that early childhood education is critical in preparing our children for success in school. We are pleased to partner with the La Porte County YMCA, which offers quality Pre-K programs for 3- and 4-year-olds. These programs are housed at Pine and Springfield elementary schools and are run by YMCA staff.

    MCAS Developmental Pre-K
     
    Programs for Pre-K students with Special Needs are provided by Michigan City Area Schools at Knapp, Pine, and Springfield Elementary Schools. For more information, call the Special Education Department at (219) 873-2000, or visit the Special Education Web page.  
     

    Coming Soon: Little Wolves Early Learning Center
     
    Michigan City Area Schools plans to open the Little Wolves Early Learning Center (1001 East U.S. 20, Michigan City) in August 2023. This center, which will be located at the site of the former Brown Mackie College, will serve children who are age 4 by August 1, 2023. Children must be potty trained. 
     
    Please note that there will be a fee for this program. (Rates TBA.) At this time, MCAS is not currently approved to accept CCDF vouchers; please check back at a later time for the status.
     
    Transportation will not be provided.
     
    This program will operate five days a week, following the MCAS School Year calendar.
