WELCOME TO OUR CLASS!
I am so excited to start a new year of learning with your child! Third grade is a year of new experiences. It is a year of growth that I look forward to sharing with you and your child!
Communication between home and our classroom is very important in helping each other provide the best learning environment for children. I will use the following practices to help us stay in touch.
Wednesday Weekly Progress Reports: Every Wednesday, I will send home notes and graded papers to keep you updated on your child's progress. Please reply to express any concerns or questions you have. You may also use Parent Access at any time to check their grades online.
Voicemail and Email: You can leave me a voice mail at Joy at any time. Joy's phone number is 873-2090 and my extension is 6335. If you have any special concerns about your child’s work or other matters and cannot reach me at Joy during school hours, you can also email me at cknouse@mcas.k12.in.us

Meet the TeacherMy name is Cathy Knouse. I have been teaching for 30 years at Joy. I have taught almost every grade, but most of my years have been in second and third grades. I am a life-long resident of Michigan City. I received my teaching degree and Masters from Valparaiso University, but I am a huge I.U. fan!
