The National Junior Honor Society is the leader among organizations and societies that promote appropriate recognition for students who reflect outstanding accomplishments in the areas of Scholarship, Character, Leadership, Citizenship, and Service.

  • How are students selected for membership?

Seventh grade students are evaluated in the Spring.  In order to be invited to apply for membership, students must first achieve a 3.2 GPA for each grading quarter and meet the behavior expectations of their classroom teachers.  Invitees will complete a Candidate Packet where they can share information about their Barker and community involvement in sports, clubs, organizations, and volunteer activities.  A Faculty Council reviews the Candidate Packets and extends offers of membership.  Members must demonstrate achievements in Scholarship, Citizenship, Service, Leadership, and Character.
