Welcome to Pine School
Hello! My name is Tiffany Callahan, School Nurse for Pine Elementary. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your student's medical needs, please feel free to call or email me.
NOTES FROM THE NURSE...It is that time of year again! In addition to current concerns related to COVID-19, flu season is upon us. Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by the Influenza A or Influenza B virus. The flu can be a mild or severe illness. The following symptoms are frequently associated with the flu: fever, chills, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, headaches, body aches, fatigue, and occasionally people experience vomiting and diarrhea. Some of the symptoms of flu and COVID-19 are similar, making it hard to tell the difference between them based on symptoms alone. Diagnostic testing can help determine if you are sick with the flu or COVID-19. Per the CDC, it's likely that flu and COVID-19 will both spread this fall and winter. Healthcare systems could be overwhelmed treating both patients with flu and patients with COVID-19.THIS MEANS GETTING A FLU VACCINE DURING 2020-2021 IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER!WHAT CAN YOU DO TO PREVENT THE FLU?.....Frequent handwashing, especially after using the restroom, eating, or preparing food..... Thoroughly clean and disinfect contaminated surfaces immediately after an episode of illness......Immediately remove and wash linens and clothing contaminated with the virus (vomit or stool). Use hot waterand soap......People that are infected with the flu virus should not prepare food while they have symptoms and for 3 days whenthey recover.
