Welcome to ART Class!
My name is Vicki Thompson and I am so excited to be your child's Visual Arts Teacher this year at Springfield Elementary!

Meet the Teacher
Since graduating from PNC in 2001, I have taught in many different Educational Settings, including Montessori and High Ability. Art is a passion of mine, and I am so happy to be able to flex my creative muscles as a full-time Art Teacher. I can't wait to be a part of your student's creative experiences and artistic growth this school year.
What To Expect?During the 23' - 24' school year, I plan to expose students to a wide range of different artists, styles, and mediums. I will encourage them to talk intelligently about art and see the beauty in the world around them. They will learn about the elements of art and the principles of design. They will also learn about how art has evolved over the course of history and how art varies across different cultures. Because we will be having a Student Art Show in the Spring, I will be keeping much of your student's artwork at school. But don't worry - work will be sent home periodically throughout the year, with Art Show pieces coming home in May.
It is my expectation that students give their best effort during Art, just as they would in their homeroom classes. Qualities for success in Art Class include: a good attitude, flexibility, listening skills, teamwork, problem-solving skills, and finally, a willingness to explore and get creative! Art classes give students the opportunity to experience a different atmosphere from their homeroom classrooms. Art class can be fun, relaxing, messy, thought-provoking, challenging, or all of the above - I hope your child will enjoy learning and growing as an artist this year!
If you have any questions or concerns, or just want to hear about what your student is doing in Art Class, please feel free to reach out! If you are interested in donating supplies, assisting with hanging art, or helping with the Spring Art Show, just let me know. For a list of items I need donted regularly, OR for access to my Amazon Class Wishlist, check the Announcements Section of this page. Thank you for everything you do to ensure the success of your student and his/her school community. I am so looking forward to working with and getting to know your student this year!
