Welcome to Edgewood SchoolMy name is Tabitha Callahan. I am the Registered Nurse at Edgewood School. It is my job to make sure that your student's medical needs are taken care of while they are in school. It is also very important that we have up to date information regarding vaccinations, allergies, and any medical concerns related to your child. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your student's medical needs, please feel free to call or email.NEWS FROM THE NURSE.......
As you know, members of the MCAS team have been working throughout the summer to prepare the best possible plan for returning to school for the 2020-2021 school year. Guidelines have been set to ensure our schools stay as healthy as possible. Our decisions throughout this process have been guided by the following principle: protect the health and safety of our staff and students, while also offering the best education services possible. Our full reopening plan can be accessed at https://www.mcas.k12.in.us/COVID.
Handwashing is the best prevention for minimizing the spread of germs. Please encourage your child to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water. Hand sanitizer will also be available throughout the school. Masks will be required (must not have a vent on the mask, as this does not keep the student from expelling their own germs from the mask). Social distancing will be maintained.
We are asking parents to check their child’s temperature every morning before school and to monitor for any signs and symptoms of COVID. Any student presenting with the following symptoms should stay home. If a student comes to school and exhibits any of these symptoms, that is otherwise not explained, they will be placed in an isolation room and you’ll be asked to pick them up immediately:
- Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, or chills
- Sore throat
- New, uncontrolled cough or shortness of breath that causes difficulty breathing (for individuals with chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline)
- Diarrhea, nausea or vomiting, or abdominal pain
- New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever
- New loss of taste or smell
If your student is sent home with any of the above symptoms, they could be excluded from school for up to 10 days or longer if symptoms persist.
