• Welcome to Pathways

    • Is your child a junior or senior?
    • Are they behind in credits?
    • Would they like to finish school a little ahead of schedule?
    • Do they enjoy doing online schoolwork?
    • Does your child prefer smaller class sizes?
    • Does your child prefer a shorter school day?
    • Are they involved in an AK class for part of the day?

If you said YES to any of the above questions, our Pathway program may just be the place for you.

We offer two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, and each session lasts 3 hours.

If this sounds like something of interest, please reach out to me and we can set up an appointment for you to come to the
Elston building and hear about the great things we can offer.  My contact information is included on my page.

Space is somewhat limited, so you might want to get signed up as soon as possible.

  • Meet the School Counselor

My name is Angie Woods and I am so excited to be here as the school counselor for the Elston Pathways program.

This is my 2nd year as a school counselor (1st at Elston) and I love every minute of it.  I have to say it feels a little strange to be working in the Elston building because this is the place I attended high school from 1986-1990.  I feel I am a great fit for this program because I hope my story might be an inspiration for other students, since Pathways is very beneficial for students who may be struggling.  I struggled throughout school, from elementary to high school.  You could say I absolutely hated school.  I did little to no school work and graduated from high school with a low GPA. I had always thought I wanted to go into the education field, but knew college was not for me.
I met my husband, Bill, in 1997.  We have been married for just over 25 years and have two amazing children.  Our daughter is 24 and our son is 18 and currently a senior at Chesterton High School.  Being married to a high school choir teacher and having a mother-in-law who was a teacher,  as well as being surrounded by my husband's colleagues, I was getting the itch to finally make a change.  When my son was 3, I decided I would finally get a college degree.  I began that journey in 2007 and did not finish until 2021.
I attended PNC in Westville from 2007-2015, where I was going for Elementary Education.  I could not pass the Praxis test to get into the education program and gave up on that dream.  I switched my major in 2014 to Liberal Arts so I could just be done.  In 2016, I went to PNW in Hammond for my masters' degree in Human Services Counseling and graduated in 2019.  After interning in the career center at PNW, I realized that I wanted to be in a high school setting, so in the fall of 2019 I was accepted to Indiana Wesleyan University, where I finally obtained my masters' degree in School Counseling in December of 2021.
I am living proof that it is never too late to make dreams come true if you are willing to work for them.

A little more about me personally: All there really is to know is that I am a Disney addict.  I love ALL THINGS DISNEY!!  We joined Disney Vacation Club back in 2016 and have been there about 2 (sometimes 3) times a year since.  It is my goal to move to Florida someday in the near future to be closer to the mouse.
