    Our vision:
    Equity
    in Michigan City Area Schools is the result of intentionally making sure all spaces are safe and healthy for students' mental, emotional, and physical growth and for their unique learning development.


    Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion priorities at Michigan City Area Schools:
    -Intentional rapport building with ALL students
    -Supporting historically disenfranchised populations in school buildings (differently-abled; gender, and sexual diversity; students of color; religion; and poverty)
    -Hiring, retention, and recruitment of staff that are all-student focused
    -Ensuring equitable discipline practices, utilizing restorative justice and positive behavioral interventions and supports
    - Professional development training on topics of equity including unconscious bias, trauma-informed care, adverse childhood experiences, kids in poverty, individualized education plans, capable learning, and social-emotional learning
