Hello and welcome to our 5th grade class!  I am so excited to have you on our learning 
journey this year!  

My name is Melissa (Mel) Halfmann.  I grew up in Michigan City, Indiana and attended
MCHS (GO WOLVES)! My two brothers also attended MCHS.  Following high school, I
attended Purdue University, majoring in Elementary Education.  I then taught for 5 
years in MCAS, both at Pine and Lake Hills.  In 2016, I moved to Las Vegas, 
where I taught 4th and 5th grades. This is now my second year back in Michigan City 
and I'm thrilled to be back in my hometown!

In my spare time I enjoy reading, working out, baking, and spending time with 
family and friends.  My love for coffee and teaching run deep, both 
of which you will undoubtedly find out as the year moves forward!
