  • Meet the Teacher
Welcome to my 2020-2021 English teacher page! I am a lifelong resident of Michigan City
and was part of the first graduating class of Michigan City High School.
After high school I attended Purdue Univeristy and earned my Bachelors degree in Liberal Studies
with a focus on English and Communications. I continued my work towards my Masters degree of Education in
Clincal Mental Health Counseling where I also worked for 15 years as a Professional Academic Advisor and taught college level classes.
Two years ago I made the leap from my role in higher education to teaching secondary education and I couldn't be happier with my choice.

I am a first year English teacher here at MCHS with the PACK Academy where I feel like I have
found my home. I try to see the unique individual in each student and am excited to be part of
a team of teachers who dedicate their lives to inspiring, empowering, and creating a safe space
for all of our students to learn. I am also a co-sponser of the LGBTQ club here at MCHS. I strive
to create a comfortable environment for my students to not just learn English concepts and skills,
but to also spark creativity and grow as overall kind humans in the world.

As we're all aware, this year is going to look very different than how we've learned together in the past; but different doesn't mean bad. I'm dedicated to working together with all my students to make this learning process work for them while offering support every step of the journey. In short...we've got this, Wolves!

I'm looking forward to working with you all this year!

    Take good care,

    Ms. Drake
