  • Meet the Teacher

    My name is Andrea Deksnis and I am a Support Services Teacher. I will be co-teaching Biology and Resource at MCHS, as well as, Facilities Maintenance at AK Smith. This is my 6th year teaching. I've taught at: Krueger Middle School, co-teaching 7th and 8th Grade ELA; Chicago Public Schools, teaching 4th-8th grade; Joule School of Beijing, China, teaching ELA and Science. I am now back in Michigan City, and thrilled to be here! I grew up in Chicago, but Michigan City has always been second home to me. 

    I enjoy photography, cooking, wood working, going to the beach, and my passion is traveling. I have wanderlust in my blood! I have been to 19 countries and a very long bucket list! I graduated from Purdue University with a B.A. in Liberal Arts, Communication and Public Relations in 2008 and continued my education at Indiana University Northwest in Special Education in 2014. 

    I look forward to teaching my students, and learning from them as well!
