    Hello Marsh Families!

I have been an educator for 17 years.  I spent all 17 of those years right here in Michigan City! I began my career as an instructional assistant at Mullen Elementary and then later as a 4th-grade teacher at Lake Hills Elementary. I later taught 4th and 5th grade at Niemann Elementary. Marsh, however, has been my home for the past 10 years. I taught 6th grade, and later became the instructional coach. I am extremely grateful and honored to now be building principal. I have two daughters. My oldest is a MCAS graduate, and my youngest is planning on graduating from MCAS in the year 2035! Marsh and Michigan City is home.

Marsh Elementary staff are dedicated individuals eager to help each child reach their full potential.  We strive to teach the whole child.  Each student’s overall well-being, including their academic, social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and mental health, is important for success.  Our students are exposed to 90+ minutes of math and reading instruction each day.  Social-emotional lessons are taught by the school counselor and social worker.  Character development is taught by MCAS Habits of Character and restorative practices.  Classroom teachers connect learning trips with classroom academics.  Marsh offers extracurricular activities, including acceleration club, co-ed soccer, girls/boys basketball, co-ed volleyball, Drama Club, Student Council, All Dad Pro, and STEAM Club.  Guardians are encouraged to become members of the MESH, Marsh Elementary School and Home group.  Safe Harbor, a before and after school program, is also on site.

I am excited for the learning that will occur this school year. I am eager to work with students, families, and the community to make this a great year for students. Continue to explore our website to learn more about Marsh Elementary, or add us on Facebook!
