• Hello!  Welcome to the 2020-21 school year.  I'm very excited to be at Michigan City High School for another year.  For this school year I'll again be teaching in Credit Recovery Room A221 (1st, 2nd, & 7th periods), and I have two periods of the day where I'm in Resource Room A111 (6th & 8th periods).  I will be using Zoom and Google Classroom this year as platforms for communicating with students.  The Zoom link for meetings can be found on my Google Classroom page for your class periods.

I am one of the teacher sponsors for the Anime Club with Mr. Melendez., which meets every Thursday after school from 2:20-3:20 pm.  Each year we fundraise in order to take the club members to ComicCon in February.  I'm not sure yet how we'll conduct the club at this point with Virtual School, but we will make an announcement when meetings will begin.

Just a little info about me....I began teaching in 1997.  I worked for years as an Elementary School teacher in grades 1-6 before having my son in 2009.  Most of my years at the Elementary level I taught gifted education and ran gifted programs for various school districts.  I came to MCAS in 2017 where I began my teaching at the high school level.  Prior to MCHS, I previously taught for two years in the Hamilton Southeastern School District in Fishers, Indiana.  I've also taught in Illinois, Michigan, California, and North Carolina.

Please feel free to email me at kvarnhagen@mcas.k12.in.us  if you have any questions or concerns.
