Hello! My name is Rebecca Pope, and I am currently teaching 4 classes of Co-taught English 9 with Nicole Bormet. Additionally, I am instructing 2 English 9AH classes.
This is my fourth year teaching high school with Michigan City Schools. In previous years at MCHS, I have been assigned co-taught, regular core, and academic honors classes for both 9th and 10th grades.
Prior to working at MCHS, I was at Clifford Pierce Middle School in Merrillville, Indiana for 9 years. My assignments there included English 8 and Honors, Academic Intervention (7th & 8th grades), Language Skills and Strategies (7th & 8th grades), Fast ForWord instructor and coordinator (7th & 8th grades), ELL (7th & 8th grades), and Read 180 (7th & 8th grades).
I am originally from Hobart, Indiana and graduated from Andrean High School (Merrillville, IN) in 1995. I attended Indiana University, graduated with high distinction, and earned a BS in Secondary English Education.
I have 3 children: Derrik (23), Zachary (21), and Colleen (19). My hobbies include: reading, writing, shopping, traveling, watching movies, listening to music, playing word games such as scrabble, and winning BINGO!
I am excited about working with the students of MCHS and look forward to a successful school year with the class of 2022!
