Hello Pine! My name is David Alvarado and I'm so excited to be the new principal this year! I grew up in Oklahoma but have lived in the region since graduating high school in 1993. I started working in education in 1999 and have 11 years experience as an elementary classroom teacher, three years as an Instructional Coach, four years as an assistant principal, and now this being my seventh year as a building principal. I'm very happy to be chosen for Pine!
What I love about being a principal is seeing so many students LEARNING. I look forward to seeing everybody learn each day. No matter what you do or don't know yet, or what you can or can't do yet, every student can LEARN. This year I'll be learning too, by seeing what a great school Pine is and how we can work together to learn more and make it even better!I live in Porter County with my wife and four children. When I'm not at school, I enjoy being an umpire for youth baseball games and a referee for youth basketball and attending my children's cheer competitions, gymnastics meets, baseball and soccer games. I also like to watch sports on TV and to read. My favorite book of all time is Watership Down by Richard Adams, which I read for the first time when I was in 7th grade and has remained my favorite ever since.
