• Welcome to U.S. History, AH (Dual Credit) US History, AP US History, and AP Government 
     AH (Dual Credit) US History is a two semester course that is designed to provide a college-level class experience and and opportunity to earn up to 6 college credits (3 per semester).  The course will be conducted with Indiana University.  Students with a GPA of 2.7 or higher will have the opportunity to earn up to 6 credits.  The cost of the class will be $25 per credit hour or free of charge depending on income level.
     
    In US History, we will explore many concepts that helps provide the framework as to how our country was formed, how we spilt apart, how we mended back together and the many hardships and the great happenings that have developed along the way.  This course will be divided into 2 sections, 1st semester and 2nd semester.
     
    AP US History is a two semester college level course that prepares students to take the AP exam in the spring.  If they do well on the exam they can earn college credit.
     
    AP Government is a one semester college level cours that prepares students to take the AP exam in the spring.  If they do well on the exam they can earn college credit

    My name is Brian Richards. This is my 26th year of teaching in MCAS.  I am a lifelong resident of Michigan City and a 1986 graduate of Rogers High School.  I earned by BA in Secondary Education from IU Northwest.  I currently coach the Spell Bowl and Quiz Bowl teams.  We are always looking for students to participate.  I currently teach AH (Dual Credit) US History and US History.  I have taught AP Government, AH Government, World History, AH World History and Geography in the past.  I have two children, who are both MCHS graduates.  Feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions.
