  •  Reading- Non-fiction

    I can..... determine how a central idea in a text is conveyed through particular details, and provide an objective summary of the text.

    Lesson Description

    1.Log into Newsela through Google as you do in class.

    2. Read the article, Colors of Innovation: A History of African-American Inventors on News ELA. Read at 990L.

    3. Take the article quiz, making sure to use your strategies to focus in on the questions, eliminating obvious incorrect answers, and choosing the BEST choice.

    Work to be turned in- Article quiz will be submitted for a grade. (30 minutes)

    Reading- Fiction

    I can.... describe two or more characters, settings, or events in a story or play, drawing on specific details in the text, and how they impact the plot. .

    Lesson Description

    1. Go to Google Classroom and open the Novel Study Character Report Card PDF and read directions carefully.

    2. Complete the assignment, making sure to use evidence from the story to support the grade you are giving the character. Submit when finished.

    Work to be turned in for grade- Novel Study Character Report Card. (30 minutes)

    3. Read your independent reading book for at least 40 minutes.

    Writing

    I can.......summarize and paraphrase important ideas and supporting details, and include direct quotations where appropriate, citing the source of information.

    Lesson Description

    1. Go to Google Classroom and open your copy of Summary: Colors of Innovation: A History of African American Inventors.

    2. Choose one of the African-American inventors from the article and write a summary of the inventor and invention by paraphrasing the main idea and supporting details, including direct quotations where appropriate.  

    3. Submit when finished.

    Work to be turned in and graded- Summary ( 20 minutes)

     Math

    5th Grade Math Group

    I can......solve real-world multistep problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

     Lesson Description

    1. Go to Google Classroom and open 5th Grade Math Group Practice- Multistep Word Problems PDF.

    2. On a separate piece of paper, answer the math problems, showing all work.

    3. Work to be turned in for grade- Math Problems answer sheet.

    (20 minutes)

    4. Log into IReady math through Clever and work on your pathway for 20 minutes.

    6th Grade Math Group

    I can.... evaluate equations to determine a variable's value.

    Lesson Description

     1. Go to Google Classroom and open 6th Grade Math Group Practice- Determining Variable Value PDF.

    2.On a separate sheet of paper, rewrite each problem and evaluate, showing all work.

    3. Work to be turned in and graded: Answer sheet for Determining Variable Value.

    4. Log into IReady math through Clever and work on your pathway for 20 minutes.

    7th Grade Math Group

    I can........combine like terms in algebraic expressions.

    Lesson Description

     1. Go to Google Classroom and open 7th Grade Math Group Practice- Combining Like Terms in Algebraic Expressions PDF.

    2. On a separate sheet of paper, write the algebraic expressions for each problem.

    3. Work to be turned in for a grade- Combining Like Terms in Algebraic Expressions answer sheet (20 minutes)

    4. Log into IReady math through Clever and work on your pathway for 20 minutes.

    1. Read Lesson4: Aquatic Ecosystems, pgs. 68- 71.

    2. Answer all the questions on each page.

    3. Work to be turned in and graded, workbook pages 68-71.
