Meet the Teacher
Hello! My name is Mrs. DeAnna Munoz and I was born and raised in Michigan City. I attended Indiana University Bloomington where I earned my Bachelor's degree in elementary education. I earned my masters degree from Purdue University. I am an avid IU fan (Purdue a close second)... Go Hoosiers!
I have been teaching for about 27 years! Wow, has time flew by! This will be my sixth teaching sixth grade but the first time starting the year off virtually. WOW! I am both excited and nervous about this adventure! I have taught many other grades including: first, second, fourth, and most recently fifth grade. I have served as a Title I Reading teacher, too. I am married and have two sons. They are lifelong Lake Hills students and are currently in eighth and twelfth grades.
I enjoy reading, bowling, camping and having fun with family and friends. Something different about me is that I can speak both English and Spanish. I taught on the border of Mexico for a couple of years out of college and since then have spent my teaching career in Michigan City at Eastport, Park, Mullen and Lake Hills. The best thing about teaching is laughing with kids and watching them learn. I am looking forward to a productive year together. Please feel free to email or call me at dmunoz@mcas.k12.in.us or 219-873-2105 ext. 6628.
