• Hello Pine!  My name is David Alvarado, and I'm so excited to be returning to our great school for another year of learning!  I started working in education in 1999 and have 11 years of experience as an elementary classroom teacher, three years as an Instructional Coach, and four years as an assistant principal, now, this will be my eighth year as a building principal overall, and my second at Pine.  I'm very happy to be here!  Go Pine Panthers!

What I love about being a principal is seeing so many students LEARNING.  I look forward to seeing everybody learn each day.  No matter what you do or don't know yet, or what you can or can't do yet, every student can learn.  This year I'll be learning too, by seeing what a great school Pine is and how we can work together to learn more and make it even better!
I live in Porter County with my wife and four children.  When I'm not at school, I enjoy being an umpire for youth baseball games and a referee for youth basketball and attending my children's cheer competitions, gymnastics meets, baseball and soccer games.  I also like to watch sports on TV and to read.  My favorite book of all time is Watership Down by Richard Adams, which I read for the first time when I was in 7th grade and has remained my favorite ever since.
