• Welcome to our Third Grade Classroom!
I am looking forward to an exciting and very busy year of getting to know each one of my students and meeting their individual needs as learners.  Through engaging activities, lessons, hands on learning, and reading, reading, reading, (Did I mention reading?) we will learn and grow as both individuals and as a class.
Assignments will be posted regularly in addition to the spelling words that the students will be tested over.  We will be using several forms of technology to keep you updated including Google Classroom.
I would like each student to make a goal of reading at least twenty minutes per evening.  Many studies show the more a child reads to them self, out loud, or is read to the more successful they will be academically.
I have an open door policy and would love for you to come and visit my class at any time.  I will be asking for volunteers to assist children with taking AR quizzes weekly and will send a note home another note as our schedule becomes routine.  I firmly believe that behind every successful classroom stands active parents who value and participate in their children's education.
    I am looking forward to a fantastic 2019 - 2020 school year!
  • This and that about me...  I have been teaching for the Michigan City Area Schools for eight years.  Prior to becoming a teacher for MCAS I worked in Title I remediation for another school corporation.  I am proud to be a member of Purdue University's elementary education program, where I graduated in 2010 as a honors graduate.  With the support of my amazing family, I decided to go back to school after owning my own business, having a family of my own, and becoming increasingly involved with my children's academics at school. I am a member of the International Reading Association, Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society, and Delta Kappa Gamma.
I have been married for twenty four years this year, and have two amazing children.  We have a house full of pets that include a dog, two cats, a bearded dragon, and a corn snake.  We love to spend time outdoors camping, hiking, and fishing.  I have coached softball and soccer off and on for the last eighteen years, and love to watch my children at their sporting events. I also love to read, garden, and cook new and unique dishes.
