• Instructional Programs

    Lake Hills Elementary offers a variety of school programs to the students. 

    BALANCED LITERACY—A research-based, multi-level, multi-method, balanced approach to language arts instruction.

    HOURS FOR OURS—Employees of local businesses meet with Lake Hills students once a week to develop friendships and support.  Each employee is assigned one student.  The employee and student eat lunch and then do an activity together.  More mentors are needed.  Please call the office if you can volunteer 45 minutes of your time weekly.

    ACCELERATED READER PROGRAM—Students demonstrate their comprehension skills on tests over books they have read.  Students earn awards for the books that they read. 

    READING INCENTIVES-- Several local national business offer incentives to students for reading books. Students can earn rewards from: Captain Ed's, Book It, Read to Succeed (Six Flags), and Deep River Water Park.

    PURDUE MATH—Instructional support in problem solving skills are provided to teachers and students by PNC Dr. David Feikes and his students.


    STUDENT RECOGNITION PROGRAM—Quarterly awards assemblies acknowledge students for academic achievement as well as perfect attendance and citizenship. Lifeskills such as responsibility, initiative and integrity are the focus each month.  Students of the month are recognized for the focused skill.


    SAFE HARBOR-Provides after school child care from 3:00-6:00pm.  Student engage in a multitude of activities: homework support, recreation, crafts.
