This year the students will be taking the state mandated ILEARN test. Also, they will be taking another state mandated test, I-Read for third graders. This year Mrs. Carlson and I will each have ALL of the third graders. I will be teaching Math and Mrs. Carlson will be teaching Reading/Language Arts. We look forward to getting to know all the third graders.Tuesday folders will go home every Tuesday. These will have graded papers and notes from the office. Please check the folders each Tuesday and have your child return it to school each Wednesday. If you have any questions, please contact me. The best way is through Class Dojo (see link below if you are not signed up) or email: rpressel@mcas.k12.in.usTo find more information about the curriculum, please go to the Marsh Elementary School page, click on Academics, then click on Curriculum. This will give you many resources and a lot of information about your child's education. When parents and teachers work together, students succeed!

About Me
Welcome to third grade. This is my 13th year at Marsh. However, this is my 27th year with Michigan City Schools. I received my Bachelor Degree in Education from Purdue University and my Master Degree in Education from Indiana Weslyan University. I have taught 8th grade math, fourth grade, as well as third grade. This is the 21st year teaching 3rd grade. I am married and have three children of my own. My oldest daughter is married and had my two grandbabies. At home I have two dogs, a cat, many rabbits (about 30!), goats, sheep, cows, pigs, pigeons, peacocks, and chickens. My youngest daughter showed rabbits, goats, pigeons, sheep, a cow and a turkey at the LaPorte County Fair for her eighth year in 4H. As you may have guessed, I live on a farm. I enjoy working in my yard, reading, spending time with my family, and watching movies.
