• Class Information

    BAND STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO:

    ► DISPLAY EXEMPLORY CONDUCT AT ALL TIMES.

    ► PRACTICE at home in order to PROGRESS at an ACCEPTABLE pace.

    ► BRING TO CLASS, ON A DAILY BASIS, THEIR:

         INSTRUMENT, METHOD BOOK, MUSIC FOLDER & A PENCIL.

     

    Grades Will Be Determined By:

     

    1) Tested Music Performance (25%) ……………….……………….. In Class &/or For an Audience

    2) Creating & Responding to Music (25%) …………..………Written Assignments, Written Quizzes/Tests

    3) Classroom Participation (50%) ………………Music Rehearsal, Listening Activities, Classroom Discussion

     

    On days when students are in class but are
     
    without their instrument, they are REQUIRED to:

    FOLLOW along with the rehearsal &/OR complete any activities

    &/OR written work that is assigned in class.

     
    ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY AT ALL PERFORMANCES:
     
    Students will always be given advance notice of performance dates to help avoid conflicts.

    There are, of course, circumstances in which students MAY be excused from a performance

    -such as severe illness, certain school activities, unavoidable family responsibilities.

    PERFORMANCES WILL BE EXCUSED ONLY ON A CASE-BY-CASE BASIS

    If conflicts arise well in advance, students are expected to inform Mr. Olson immediately.

    For all Excused Concert Absencesindividual testing in class on concert selections

    will be conducted to determine the Grade Earned for that Concert.

    However, for all Unexcused Concert AbsencesNO CREDIT will be given.

     
    ISSUED MATERIALS ARE TO BE 
     
    KEPT & TREATED WITH CARE:
     
     
    Throughout the year, students will be issued MUSIC BOOKS & SHEET MUSIC.

    Students are required to return these materials, as they are property of MCAS.

    Students must also handle all issued materials with care;

    as students & parents will be held responsible for all lost or damaged items.
