    Good morning class!! Ironically enough, today is national tourist appreciation day! We are finishing up our trip to some countries around the world today as we visit Canada, New Zealand, and Ireland. Have so much fun!

    Google Meet at 10:00 today- SINCE WE ARE TRAVELING THIS WEEK AND ITS TOURIST APPRECIATION DAY, WEAR YOUR BEST TOURIST OUTFIT TO OUR GOOGLE MEET! Link will be posted 5 minutes before our Meet time. We will have a surprise guest today, so please join us!

    Here is a list of today’s work. Please complete each assignment posted in Google Classroom. “I can” statements for each assignment are listed below.

    ELA- Reading and Writing

    • I can... Select and apply context clues (e.g., word, phrase, sentence, and paragraph clues) and text features to determine the meanings of unknown word.. (5.RV.2.1)

    Today’s ELA Work Checklist (about 60 minutes to complete)

    1. In Google Classroom, select the assignment called Trekking Across the World: Ireland. Today in Ireland you are seeing sights that you have never seen before! The person you are traveling with (pretend it is whoever you’d like… Mickey Mouse perhaps?) sends a postcard to their mom describing the trip. There are many words in the postcard that are pretty hard to determine. Do your best to figure out what the meanings of the underlined words are! (20 min)
    2. In Google Classroom, select the assignment called Trekking Across the World: Canada. You have spent a lot of time researching Canada! You want to make sure you are well informed before your visit. As you did your reading, you looked at the meanings of words. For this activity you are going to be writing the synonym or definition of what you think the words mean in the passages. 
    3. In Google Classroom, click on the assignment called Trekking Across the World: New Zealand. We are in New Zealand!! Where there is so much to do there is a moment to waste. While visiting, there are many choices you have as to what it is you do. In your preparations for your visit, you are trying to figure out where you should stay! It is important to use your detective skills to figure out the best option here! 

    Today’s Math Work Checklist (40 minutes to complete)

    I can…  Represent real-world problems and equations by graphing ordered pairs in the first quadrant of the coordinate plane, and interpret coordinate values of points in the context of the situation.(5.AT.7)

    1. In Google Classroom click on the assignment called Graphing Vocabulary. This is a Google Slide. Type each correct vocabulary word from the top in the missing boxes. (10 mins)
    2. In Google Classroom, click on the assignment called Coordinate Plane Graphing Quiz. Today you will show what you’ve learned this week in Google Slides. The directions for each slide are located at the bottom. You will be dragging and dropping as well as filling in the blanks. (30 mins)
