    Hello Knapp Knights! I hope your summer was great,
    but it's time to talk MUSIC! I have many musical things
    planned for you in the 2022-2023 school year!
       
    ALL Grades
    Quaver Music!
    We will continue to integrate Quaver's specialized lessons,
    music, games as the year progresses!
     
    Grades K-2
    Singing on pitch, keeping a steady rhythm,
    movement and songs, stories and music, singing
    games and much more!
    The Fall Musical! (early December - TBD)
     
    Grades 3-6
    Musical Styles:            
    Patriotic, Classical, Blues, Jazz, Rock, Folk, Rap...
    and more!
    Patriotic Songs of America!
    Music Theory, Recorders (3rd grade), Bucket Drumming,
    Auxilary percussion and Orff Instruments!
    Note Identification (pitch and duration), Melody,
    Rhythm, Harmony, Dynamics, Tempo, Structure,
    Timbre, Texture and Tonality. Recognizing
    Instruments by their sound - Aurally     
    The Spring Musical! (early-mid May - TBD)
     
    Grades 4-6
    Circle the State with Song & The Knapp Knight Singers!
     
    Circle the State with Song (CSWS) is a festival choir made up
    of only the very best singing voices in Indiana. Do you have the
    ability and drive to be one of the best? 
     
    The Knapp Knight Singers is a new addition to our offerings here 
    at Knapp. It follows along with the excellence that CSWS demonstrates,
    focusing on ability, attitude and performance. Both of these elite
    elite music ensembles will be auditioning in September.
     
    If you are selected, practices will occur once a week after school in
    the music room. It IS possible to be selected to participate in BOTH
     
    So...how well do you sing? Come sing for me! : ) 
     
    Grade 3
    The three elements of music!
    An introduction to 'Rhythm', 'Melody' and 'Harmony',
    the elements that make music what it is!
     
    January brings Recorders! Each 3rd grader will need to purchase
    a quality three-piece recorder from me (around $4 a piece). Each
    student will play their OWN recorder, there will be NO sharing!
    They will need to be responsible for keeping track of it and bringing
    it to music class. After a few weeks of learning/practicing, could a
    performance be in their future?
     
     
    Grade 4
     
    Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Projects!
    You will be studying the history of early Rock and Roll,
    from 1954 through the early 1960's. During that time,
    you will be assigned a performer or group that has been
    inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Your project
    will include a report, pictures and your own art work
    which will be displayed in the music room at the end of
    the unit!  
     
    Grade 5
    Think Positive!
    A beginning of the year project that includes ALL
    aspects of music, including a short solo by you!
    Everyone must do it. Music is a performing art
    you know! : ) 
    The Knapp Knight Grammy Awards!
    Everyone will create a rap about something
    that you like or like to do, then create the
    cover art that would accompany your CD.
    You're a performing artist remember!
     
    Grade 6
    The Science of Sound!
    What is sound? Just what is going on
    when we hear music anyway?
    Rapp Song!
    A beginning of the year project that includes ALL
    aspects of music, including a short solo by you!
    Everyone must do it. Remember, music is a
    performing art!

  • Meet the Teacher!
     
    Hello!  I'm Stephen Chambers, the Music Specialist
    at Knapp Elementary!  I hold Bachelor's and
    Master's Degrees from Indiana University,
    specializing in Instrumental, Choral, and
    General Music.  I pride myself on my students
    abilities in vocal production and singing on pitch,
    early music theory, and an all-round knowledge of
    music in general.  My hope is that my students open
    their minds and experience all that music has to offer!
