3rd Grade Survival Tips:
*3rd graders are expected to memorize the multiplication facts to 12. Timed tests are taken in class based on fact families. I highly encourage all students to buy a set of multiplication flash cards to keep at home.
*3rd graders are growing fast! To help keep them healthy, make sure they get a good night's rest. Having a consistent bedtime will help them wake up energized and refreshed, ready to do their personal best! Keeping hydrated is important for your growing child! Students are welcome to bring a bottle of water to school.
*All 3rd graders in Indiana take a reading test in March called IREAD3. The tests consists of spelling, vocabulary, and reading comprehension all at the 3rd grade level. Any student who does NOT pass this test will be required to attend summer school and retake the test. All 3rd graders MUST pass the IREAD3 test to be promoted to the 4th grade. Any student who doesn't pass in the summer, or didn't attend summer school, will repeat the 3rd grade.
*There are many websites that can help your child with math and/or reading. Check out the Knapp Web Links for sites your child uses at school.
