Algebra 1 Early College - Periods 1, 4, and 7
I can make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
I can look for and make use of structure.
I can reason abstractly and quantitatively.
I can model with mathematics.
I can write a system of two linear equations in two variables that represents a real world problem and solve the problem.
I can solve systems of linear equations using the elimination method or the substitution method
Lesson Description:
Students will view examples and take notes of real world situations that can be solved using a system of two linear equations with two variables. Students will then write systems of two linear equations with two variables. Once the system is written, students will use the elimination method or the substitution method to solve the system and answer the question presented in the word problem.
Steps of Lesson:
1. If you have not completed any of the previous eLearning assignments, work on completing those assignments.
2. Continue working on the Systems of Linear Equations word problems lessons. Login to Khan Academy and view the 6 videos that have been assigned. The videos are: King's Cupcakes, potato chips, TV & DVD, apples and oranges, coins, and coffee and croissants. Take good, detailed notes for each video. The videos are examples of what you will see on your assignment.
3. Once you have finished viewing the videos, then complete the two assignments posted in Khan Academy: Systems of Equations Word Problems and Systems of Equations Word Problems Capstone.
4. All is due by Friday, February 8th.
5. E-mail me if you have any questions about the assignment.
Skills/Resource - Period 2
I can start preparing for my future by researching a career I am interested in pursuing.
Lesson Description:
Students have researched 2 careers that they are interested in pursuing. They will now choose one of the careers that they have researched and answer some more in-depth questions about the career. Students will need to cite the sources that they used to research their career.
Steps of Lesson:
1. Go to Google Classroom and open the class page for 2nd period.
2. If you have not completed the eLearning assignment for 01/25/2019, get that completed ASAP! The Dual Credit application for Ivy Tech is due on Friday, February 1st.
3. Complete the eLearning assignment for 01/30/2019.
4. Continue researching one of the two careers that you are interested in pursuing.
5. Answer the questions in the Google Doc about the career you have researched. Make sure that you include the sources that you researched in the Google Doc.
6. Submit your Google Doc when you have completed the assignment.
PreCalc/Trig - Period 8
I can make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
I can reason abstractively and quantitatively.
I can model with mathematics.
I can graph trigonometric functions with and without technology.
Lesson Description:
Students will view the video on graphing the sine function, f(x) = sin(x) and determine the domain and range of the sine function. Students will take notes while viewing the video.
Steps of Lesson:
1. View the video Graphing Sine Function and take notes on the video. If you have your guided notes with you, use the video to complete the notes page "The Graph of the Sine Function."
2. Continue working in WebAssign on Chapter 6 Assignments.
