    I can... tell the setting, characters and plot of a story.

    Steps of the Lesson:

    1. Listen to So Much Snow or read a book you have at home.

    2. Illustrate the setting and list the characters found in the story.

    3. Write a sentence each to describe the beginning, middle, and end of the story.  Add illustrations to your sentences.


    Work to be turned in: setting illustration, character list, and beginning - middle - end sentences and illustrations (30 minutes)



    I can... write sentences about a topic and use correct punctuation and capitalization.

    Steps of the Lesson:

    1.  Write 5 or more sentences about what you are doing on this day off school.

    2.  Check your sentences for capitals, end marks and complete thoughts.

    3.  Add 3 describing words to your sentences.


    Work to be turned in: 5 sentences (30 minutes)



    I can... collect and interpret data using a graph or chart.

    Steps of the Lesson:

    1.  Collect at least 15 small toys or objects

    2.  Group them into some sort of category (color, size, use, etc.)

    3.  Make a graph that shows the data (use pictures or tally marks).  Title the graph.

    4.  Answer the following questions.  Which one has the most?   Which one has the least?  How many are there with the most and the least added together?


    Work to be turned in: Graph and answers to the questions (30-40 minutes)

    Steps of the Lesson:

    1.  work 20 minutes in iReady on Math

    2.  work 20 minutes in iReady on Reading
