    Hello!

Welcome to Elaine Rivich's site for E-learning. Although we will not be able to meet at school today, my expectation is that you will still work on your Credit Recovery.  I will check whenever possible to see that you are working and to see if you need anything from me.  Always remember that your progress is a priority for me.  Each of you is very important, and I want you to know that I am here for you.  We all need a support system, now more than ever, to see this school year through to the end successfully.  Please reach out if there is any way that I can help you.

Take full advantage of today's class time to continue to do your Credit Recovery tutorials, notes(optional), and Mastery tests.  If you need to review the procedures, carefully read all of the instructions and previous information posted on Schoology.

Pre- tests may be taken to determine if you can exempt lessons, especially for classes you have already had. If you score 60% or better for any lessons after pretesting, you can skip them. Pre-tests, Post Tests, and Final Exams must be done during class on Go Guardian.

Try to complete a minimum of 1 tutorial lesson, 1 set of notes (if you choose to take notes), and pass your Mastery Test.  If you want to use the guided notes, they are located in the left-hand toolbar in a folder in your tutorial.  When you click it you will see the word "Resources," then "Guided Notes" and once opened, they can be filled in as you do your lesson to help you review.  They must be saved as pdf files...they will not autosave, so make sure you save your work before closing any tabs or logging out.  60% or better is the minimum passing score for ALL tests. Let me know if you need a test reset after you have reviewed your lesson, and you may try it again.

Remember notes are optional and not required to get your credit. They can be used, however, when taking tests once you have sent or shown them to me.  If your class does not have guided notes, you may take handwritten notes in a notebook as you proceed through the lesson, so keep all of your work together.

If you have a printer, you can also print the guided notes or contact me if you need copies of the notes or any other materials.  If you email me in advance, I can collect materials, prepare copies, and get supplies, and we can arrange a time and place for you to pick them up during the school day, but only when we are in session.  All of the directions for accessing this work were posted previously on Schoology, so please check them out for any further questions.

All students will be given credit for attendance on all E-learning days if you have attempted to complete your work or have contacted me in some way regarding your work. Also, please fully charge your chromebook at home today, and bring it back ready to go when we return to school.

You may need to have another online class added asap if you need the required credits to graduate this year. Please email me with any requests, questions, or concerns.  I will try to respond as quickly as I can.  My email address is: erivich@mcas.k12.in.us

Good luck, work hard, and please make very good use of today!

Welcome to Elaine Rivich's teacher site for E-learning,  for asynchronous learning, and for days when your teacher cannot be in class.  I am ER (Elaine Rivich) and you are my CRS (Credit Recovery Students), so you will also be known as "ER's CRS!"

Always remember that your progress is very important to me, even when I am unable to meet with you.  My expectation is that you will take advantage of today's class time to continue to do your Credit Recovery tutorials, notes, and tests. Although we will not meet today, you will need to work on your Credit Recovery work.

Please read all of the instructions and updated information posted on Google Classroom.  If you are a new student, please make sure you have fully completed the Student Orientation first, if you have not already done so, and make sure to spend a minimum of 15 minutes on that.  Once that has been completed for the required amount of time, you will have an assigned class.  Watch Ms. Arnett's video before starting your new class which tells you how to access, use, title, and save your daily guided notes.  If your class does not have guided notes, you will take handwritten notes in a notebook, as you proceed through the lesson, so please keep all of your work.  All notes are required to get your credit and can be used on all tests, once you have sent them or shown them to me for approval.  Now continue on to complete a tutorial lesson for your class, take notes, and pass your Mastery Test.  If you are completing 1 lesson, 1 set of notes, and a Mastery Test each day, you will be on track, and you will be given credit for attendance on E-learning/asynchronous days as well.

All of the directions for accessing and doing this work are posted on Google Classroom, so please refer to that site if you have any further questions. Your Google Classroom codes have been previously provided.  If you have any questions or problems, please email me. I will try to respond as soon as possible.

    My email address is erivich@mcas.k12.in.us.

Good luck, work hard, and make very good use of each day. Have a wonderful Fall Break, too.  I can't wait to see you again, or meet you all on Oct. 19th when we return to school!

    May 13, 2020

Good Morning, and welcome to the last official day of the 2019-2020 school year! We have ended with 30 official days of Virtual School! Congratulations to all of you who are graduating! YAY! CLASS OF 2020!  WOO HOO!  I wish you all the very best in every future endeavor. We are soooo proud of you! You have completed your high school career against sometimes seemingly insurmountable odds, and because you persevered, you have made it!  I will miss you and  Michigan City H.S. will miss you too!  We know you will go on to do great things!!!  Also, a shout out to all who have earned credits during this unbelievable school year. Have a safe and healthy  summer! Hope to see you underclassmen back in a few short months!

IMPORTANT DEADLINE!  Mr Goralczyk has informed us that all Credit Recovery work and testing must be completed and submitted by 4:00 pm May 26th!  May 27th is the last day that our teachers will be available before summer to process your credits.  Please get going!  We only have a few days total (which includes weekends) to get all assigned work finished.  After that, CR classes will no longer be activated!  Don't wait any longer, PLEASE! After that, you will need to do summer school.

I will have an adjusted testing schedule from now on.  If you are going to test today, you will have to notify me at least an hour in advance, and have all of your notes submitted and approved well in advance.  After today, I will still need you to follow the directions for submitting your work and email me the day before or hours before to sign up for a testing day and time.

If you need any kind of help, I am willing to assist you, video chat with you, email you, listen to you, and offer  whatever I can to get you through this.  If you do your lessons, and take daily NOTES, tests can be finished and credits can be earned.  Please let me know what you need.  I am here and I will try to help you as best I can until the deadline for credits to be completed. YOU'VE GOT THIS!!!

If you are having technology issues or problems with your internet or chromebook, you can ask for assistance Monday through Wednesday between 8 am and 5 pm by calling (219) 873 2000 ext. 8359.

Respond to emails, and keep in contact.  Check this site daily and your email throughout the day. It is easiest to reach me between the hours of 9am and 3pm, but if I see a message or email from you before or after that, or on a different day, I will respond asap.  I will also continue to send you emails, videos, and updated information.  You can message me on Edmentum as well.  Please check out the emails and videos sent previously for any information you may have missed.

Make sure you are logging on and working on tutorials, NOTES, and tests every day.  You need to spend 30 to 50 minutes per tutorial and pass each test with a 60% or better to move on.  If you take the time to read each tutorial carefully, and take complete NOTES, you will do much better on each Mastery and Post Test, and your Final Exam as well.  You will also be much more likely to not have to retest.  Please remember, if you don't review the tutorial lessons fully and just click through, I will have to reset them and you will have to do them over.  I am watching for your emails and Edmentum messages.  I can see if you are logging in and how much time you are spending online and actually doing  the work.

If you have handwritten or guided NOTES to finish, please complete them fully.  If you do not have all of the guided worksheets, you can click the blue folder on the left hand tool bar in each tutorial for Science, Health, Math, English and Social Studies classes and take a look at the guided NOTES, using them as an example to make your own NOTES.  You can also print them if you have a printer.  If you want to type on the guided NOTES and save your work in a document, please understand that you cannot open any other tabs or documents during any of your testing or your tests will lock.  Therefore, if you do type directly on the guided NOTES pages, you will have to print them to use them on your tests.  Also remember, you can always take your own NOTES, writing the important facts and main ideas down, using bullet points, writing definitions of new vocabulary, and working out problems, step-by- step.  You should have NOTES that are neat and complete, with 1 full page minimum for every 10 slides (or pages) of a tutorial, or approx 4 pages for every 40-page tutorial.  NOTES are part of your credit and they are required. You are allowed to use your NOTES on all tests as long as I have seen them before taking a Post Test or Final Exam.

If you need a Mastery Test reset, or help with any of your work, please let me know.  Post Tests and Finals can be given remotely as well.  When you contact me, we can set up the most convenient time for testing.

I will need to know the DAY BEFORE you take any Post Tests or a Final and I must see your NOTES, page by page, with each tutorial in order, so please keep them together, organized, and ready. Keep in touch with me. You will make a video and email it to me, showing each page of your NOTES, in lesson order, the day before you want to take a Post Test or Final Exam.  If your NOTES are all complete, and have already been sent in, you can email me and I can try to set up a testing time for that same day, otherwise, it may be the following day before you can test.

I hope you and your families are staying home and staying healthy!  We need you!  Take care of yourselves and others by practicing social distancing when you absolutely have to go out, or are outside getting some exercise.  Wear a mask or face covering to protect yourself and others and keep yourself and your surroundings clean, to avoid being infected.

Reach out and keep in contact, so I can assist you with whatever you need.  I am here for you!  I believe in you!  I will miss you all very much and want you to know you have my support. EVERYONE CAN EARN THEIR CREDITS!  Keep your eyes on the prize!  Better times are ahead!

    Good Morning!

Hope you all had a wonderful and safe weekend celebrating Mother's Day with your families.  My mom had a birthday as well, so we stood on the  porch watching her blow out the candles on her cake through the screen door!  What a chilly, rainy day it was! Hopefully warmer days are on their way soon.

Just think how incredible it will be, to be a member of the historic class of 2020 to make it through a pandemic and still get your diploma!!!  And those of you who are not seniors... we are cheering for you to finish up as well!

I am watching for your emails and Edmentum messages and I am taking daily attendance.

Please take advantage of this time at home to complete your school work in all classes.

I miss you all very much and want you to know you have my support.  Let's make it a positive school year, despite the changes.  EVERYONE CAN EARN THEIR CREDITS!  Keep your eyes on the prize!  Better times are ahead!

I am watching for your emails and Edmentum messages and I am taking daily attendance.

Please take advantage of this time at home to complete your school work in all classes.

I miss you all very much and want you to know you have my support.  Let's make it a positive school year, despite the changes.  EVERYONE CAN EARN THEIR CREDITS!  Keep your eyes on the prize!  Better times are ahead!

Good Morning! Welcome to day 19 of our virtual learning marathon! The sun is shining and the birds are singing!  Hopefully Spring is here to stay for awhile.  I hope this message finds you healthy and happy, and in good spirits.  I'm encouraging you to tackle any challenges before you and make this a very hardworking and productive week.

Please take advantage of this time at home to complete your school work in all classes.

I miss you all very much and want you to know you have my support.  Let's make it a positive school year, despite the changes.  EVERYONE CAN EARN THEIR CREDITS!  Keep your eyes on the prize!  Better times are ahead!

    Good Morning!

I hope you are planning on making the best of this wonderfully wacky weather Wednesday, with snowflakes once again in the forecast!  Just think... one of these days, winter will give way to spring and by then you can have your schoolwork all done and go out and enjoy the sunshine.

If you are having technology issues or problems with your internet or chromebook, you can ask for assistance Monday through Wednesday between 8 am and 5 pm by calling (219) 873 2000 ext. 8359.

I will continue to be available to you on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, throughout this school year.  The last day for students will be May 13th, and all work must be turned in by May 20th.  Please take full advantage of the time online to contact me and your other teachers so that you can complete all of the work necessary to earn all of your credits. Remember you can still do your work on Thursdays through Sundays as well.  If you work really hard to catch up on notes and tutorials during the long weekends, you can be ready to submit notes and take your Post Tests and End of Semester Final tests on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

I am watching for your emails and Edmentum messages and I am taking daily attendance.

If you want to type on the guided notes and save your work in a document, please understand that you cannot open any other tabs or documents while you are testing or your tests will lock.  Therefore, if you do type directly on the guided notes pages, you will have to print them to use them on your tests.  Also remember, you can always take your own notes, writing the important facts and main ideas down, using bullet points, writing definitions of new vocabulary, and working out problems, step-by- step.  You should have notes that are neat and complete, with 1 full page minimum for every 10 slides (or pages) of a tutorial, or approx 4 pages of notes for every 40-page tutorial.

    Hello, Students...

How was your Staycation? I hope that you all enjoyed some valuable down time with your families and others you love and care about.  I also hope you and yours have been healthy and have been able to enjoy some of the warmer temperatures and outdoor signs of spring. With the gradual change to a new season and nature renewing living things to grow again, we are encouraged to remain hopeful for the future and all that it can bring.

I'm sure you are still trying to visualize how the end of this school year will be.  The fact that we will need to do things so differently may still be hard to take for some, and downright disappointing for others.  I know many of you, especially our seniors, were looking forward to all of the things the end of the year brings...  I am saddened for you all, and I know these are challenging times.  How we deal with all of this is very important.

THERE TRULY IS NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT!  Please get going on your work and finish strong!  Today is our first day back after Spring Break, and we will have 3 days per week to check in.  We will now be available to you on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, until further notice.  Please take full advantage of the time online to contact me and your other teachers so that you can complete all of the work necessary to earn all of your credits.

    Hello, Students...

How unbelievable is this??? Who would've ever predicted that we would not return to school this school year?  I don't think we could have imagined that the last time we would be together at MCHS was Friday the 13th, 2020?

This news is hard to take for some, and downright disappointing for others.

Today is our last day before Spring Break.  Wouldn't it be wonderful to earn your credit before vacation? Anything's possible if we try, and I'm here to help you do it!

Many of  you are not responding to emails, and are not keeping in contact.  Please check this site daily and your email throughout the day. April 1, 2020

    Hello!

A new month is finally here!  To celebrate that, EVERYONE READING THIS WILL EARN A FREE CREDIT!  April Fools!!! Haha!  Just kidding!  But all joking aside, let's not be foolish, and let's roll up our sleeves and get these classes finished!  Hope you are feeling well and keeping busy. There are only 3 school days til Spring Break!  Wouldn't it be wonderful to earn your credit before vacation? Anything's possible if we try, and I'm here to help you do it!

Many of  you are not responding to emails, and are not keeping in contact.  Please check this site daily and your email throughout the day. It is easiest to reach me between the hours of 9am and 3pm, but if I see a message or email from you before or after that, I will respond asap!  I will continue to send you emails, videos, and updated information.  You can message me on Edmentum as well.  Please check out the emails and videos sent previously for any information you may have missed.

Make sure you are logging on and working on tutorials and tests every day.  You need to spend 30 to 50 minutes per tutorial and pass each test with a 60% or better to move on.  If you take the time to read each tutorial carefully, and take complete notes, you will do much better on each Mastery and Post Test, and your Final Exam as well.  You will be much more likely then not to have to retest.   Please remember, if you don't review the tutorial lessons fully and just click through, I will have to reset them and you will have to do them over.  I am watching for your emails and Edmentum messages and I am taking daily attendance.  I can see who is logging in and working and how much time you are spending.

If you have guided notes to finish, please complete them fully.  If you do not have the worksheets, you can click the blue folder on the left hand tool bar in each tutorial and take a look at the guided notes, using them as an example to make your own notes.  You can also print them if you have a printer.  If you want to type on the guided notes and save your work in a document, please understand that you cannot open any other tabs or documents while you are testing or your tests will lock.  Therefore, if you want to type directly on the guided notes pages, you will have to print them to use them on your tests.  Also remember, you can always take your own notes, writing the important facts and main ideas down, using bullet points, writing definitions of new vocabulary, and working out problems, step-by- step.  You should have notes that are neat and complete, with 3 to 4 pages for every 10-page tutorial. You are allowed to use your notes on all tests as long as I have seen them before taking a Post Test or Final Exam.

If you need a Mastery Test reset, or help with any of your work, please let me know.  Post Tests and Finals can be given remotely as well.  If you contact me, we can set up the most convenient time for testing.  I will need to know the day before you take any Post Tests or a Final and I will need to see your notes, so please keep them together, organized, and ready, and keep in touch with me. You will make a video and send it to me showing each page of your notes the day before you want to take a Post Test or Final Exam.  If your notes are all complete, and have already been sent in, you can email me and I can try to set up a time for that same day, otherwise, it may be the following day before you can test.

Please take advantage of this time to stay home and complete your school work in all classes.  Stay well. We need you!  Take care of yourself and others by staying home, and social distancing when you are outside getting some exercise.

Reach out, and keep in contact, so I can assist you with whatever you need.  I am here for you!  I believe in you!  Let's make it a productive day! Good Luck!

*******YAY! Shout outs to Devin and Marquaivion who recently earned credits!***

Way to go! up Keep your eyes on the prize!  Graduation will be here before you know it...

I guess we will be meeting like this for an extra few weeks. I hope you saw the email I sent to all of you.  Please don't stress and let's get this stuff done before May 1st.  Then we can just kick back and cruise through the rest of the school year. I have faith in you and I know things will turn out fine.  We just need to do things a little differently than we are used to.

Hoping you are all doing well and taking good care of yourselves. Pay attention to your health and make sure you stay home except for only the very necessary trips you may need to make.  I encourage you to attempt to complete some of your Credit Recovery work each day.  If you only have finals or Post Tests to take, please study your notes and tutorials. We will figure out what to do about testing very soon and let you know.

If you need a new class loaded, tests opened or reset, or anything, contact me for assistance and to ask any questions. You can email, or message me through Edmentum.  I will be contacting you with more information, by email, and on my daily teacher site throughout the day. I am taking attendance and watching to see if you are working online.  I want to hear from you each and every day. It has only been a week, and I'm already starting to miss you guys!  Remember that I am here to help, so feel free to contact me about whatever you need.
