• State Standards for Health & Wellness for grades (9-12)

    After completion of this class the students will be able to say: "I AM ABLE TO:

    Standard 1: Comprehend concepts related to health promotion and disease prevention to enhance health.

                      (Lifestyle factors, environmental factors, genetics, Health Triangle) 

    Standard 2: Analyze the influence of family, peers, culture, media, technology and other factors on health behaviors.

                       (Family, society, school, media influences)

    Standard 3: Demonstrate the ability to access valid information and products and services to enhance health.

                       (Health information, school resources, validity of health information and products)

    Standard 4: Demonstrate the ability to use interpersonal communication skills to enhance health or reduce health risks.

                       (Refusal skills, assertive communication, conflict resolution, positive peer pressure)

    Standard 5: Demonstrate the ability to use decision-making skills to enhance health.

                        (Analyze outcomes, cooperation and compromise, decision-making factors)

    Standard 6: Demonstrate the ability to use goal-setting skills to enhance health.

                        (Formaulate a plan, document progress, reflect and assess direction)

    Standard 7: Demonstrate the ablilty to practice health-enhancing behaviors and limit risk behaviors.

                         (Healthy practices, identify risk behaviors)

    Standard 8: Demonstrate the ability to advocate for personal, family and community health.

                         (Model positive health choices, advocate for a healthier society)
