A Few Facts About Me...
Salutations! I am Tammy Breitweiser the District Coach. This year I am split between Pine and Knapp Schools. I am the coach that works with teachers in grades 3-6 in each building.
This is my fourth year in Michigan City and my 24th year in education. I am thrilled to be a part of both schools.
My undergraduate degree is in Elementary Education from Ball State University. I have my Masters in Teacher Leadership from the University of Phoenix. I have kindergarten and reading endorsements. My teaching career began in Kokomo, Indiana and I have also worked in Portage Township Schools and for a school system in Gary. For three years I was a TAP Master Teacher coaching in grades K-12. I have taught in various grades from kindergarten through 8th grade. I also was a reading specialist for many years.
I have training in 6+ 1 Writing traits, Teach Like A Champion, TAP, Singapore Math, Core Knowledge, the Baldridge Model, and various other programs and frameworks. I have been honored to work for schools that have won National and State awards and have presented about these programs at State and National conferences. I was the Allen Group Teacher of Excellence for October 2015.
In my spare time, I am a writer, a reader, and a runner. I write short stories and nonfiction. I read a variety of materials and topcis. I have raced in distances from 5K to 50 miles. I enjoy spending time with my husband and my 4 children.
I believe reading is the gateway to all learning.
