Meet the Teacher
I have been a teacher and principal in the Michigan City area for more than 30 years. I have had the privilege of teaching at Heritage Christian Academy, Landmark Christian School, St. Paul Lutheran School, Lake Hills STEM Magnet School, and most recently, Michigan City High School. In addition to my responsibilities in the math department at the high school, I also teach at Purdue University Northwest.
Education has always been my passion. My first academic degrees were earned at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, where I earned Graduate of Theology and Bachelor of Science degrees in Religious Studies. I then attended Purdue University where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. I also attended Purdue University - Calumet, where I earned a Master of Science degree in Educational Administration. In 2012, I completed my Doctor of Education degree at Liberty University, Lynchburg, Virginia. I have taught at every grade level from pre-school to university coursework. In addition to teaching, I was also the principal of St. Paul Lutheran School for 12 years.
I was wonderfully married for 40 years to my lovely wife, Debbie (who was a 2nd grade teacher at St. John's Lutheran School in LaPorte)! Sadly, she passed away in 2020. I have 4 children - Michelle, Michael, Matthew, and Mallory. Two of my children live in Northwest Indiana, one in southern Indiana, and one lives in San Antonio, Texas. I also have 9 grandchildren - Joseph, Kyrra, Jaidn, Arya, Sabin, Sawyer, Shea, McKenna and Benjamin. I am originally from Chicago, but I've lived in Michigan City my entire adult life and I am proud to call M.C. my home.
