• Classroom Economy

In our fifth grade classrooms, we use a classroom economy system. This is a great way to get students engaged in their own learning while also giving them some real life applications and teaching financial literacy. Students will apply for and be assigned monthly jobs. After they get paid, they will be responsible for paying their classroom "rent" and with their extra cash they can purchase items in our monthly auctions. In addition, for doing the right thing along the way, students will earn bonuses and when students make poor choices, they can earn a classroom citation. This has been a very successful and fun way to keep our kiddos on the right track!
