Welcome to Mrs. Rogers' Second GradeFeb. Dates to remember:Feb. 14th Valentine's CelebrationFeb. 17 STEM Celebration of LearningFeb. 26 ConferencesMeet the TeacherWe have a very busy and exciting school year in store for us! Let me first introduce myself. I am Leanne Rogers and this will be my thirteenth year teaching. I have taught first grade for four years and this is my ninth year teaching second grade. I live in Michigan City with my husband, Chris, our children, Ethan and Ava, and our little dog, Puffy.
I realize that teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous responsibility. I will do my best to ensure that each student has a safe and motivational learning experience in my classroom. However, I cannot do this alone; I am asking for your help. We need to be partners in your child’s learning process. Please encourage your child to read at home each night and help them complete their daily assignments.
Monday through Friday your child will be bringing a green homework folder home. This folder will be used to communicate school news as well as daily assignments. At the beginning of each week, there will be a list of spelling words that we will be working on for the week. Please practice these words at home with your child and on Friday they will have a spelling test over these words.
The children will be going out to recess everyday unless it is raining or extremely cold. Please keep this in mind when helping your child select clothes for the day. Also, we are fortunate to have a variety of playground equipment, including several pieces for climbing. Please keep this in mind when selected shoes.
Establishing good classroom discipline is essential to each child's success, confidence and well-being. Every child should feel that the classroom environment is safe and secure. In addition, it is important that each child learn to develop self- discipline and good working habits, to resolve conflicts peacefully, and to think independent. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Let's make this a great school year!
