Dear MCAS Families:
As our school year draws to a close today, I would like to thank our families for your support during this most unusual time. Whether your student spent this year learning in person or remotely (or a combination of both!), we appreciate our families’ efforts in keeping students connected, motivated, and involved. We are so proud of all of our students for everything they have accomplished this year!
We are also very proud of our graduating Class of 2021, which will be participating in commencement ceremonies this coming Sunday at Michigan City High School. Over a quarter of this class will be graduating with Academic or Technical honors, and they have earned 1,813 dual credits. They are college and career ready!
Many of our students will now be engaged in summer school (which begins next week) or other summer programming. More information about our summer offerings and other summer programs in our community is available on our website at http://educateMC.net/summer.
I would also like to remind all families to update your contact information in Parent Access (especially your email address), as our district will be transitioning to a new parent portal for grades, schedules, and school registration later this month. We’ll be sharing new access codes with you and we want to be sure we can reach you this summer.
Thank you again for your flexibility, your support, and your commitment to your child’s education.
Dr. Barbara Eason-Watkins
Reminders as We Prepare to Welcome Students Back In Person. . . S-W-I-M!
MCAS Administrators have some fun reminders for families as many of our students return to in-person instruction on October 19th!
* Screen for COVID Symptoms (the new morning routine!)
* Water Bottles (bring one to school!)
* Immunizations (be up to date... and get a flu shot!)
* Masks (wear a clean mask each day!)
In December 2017, Michigan City Area Schools installed solar arrays at 7 of our buildings - the largest project of its kind to date in Indiana. Over 30 years, this project will save our district $23 million in energy costs. Enjoy this drone footage of our arrays, courtesy of Performance Services:
