Thirty-four teams participated in Mayor Ron Meer's second annual golf outing on Friday, September 19, at the Municipal Golf Course. More than $12,000 was raised for Michigan City Area Schools.
Forty-five area companies sponsored holes at the event, which contributed to the fundraising total.
MCAS Superintendent Dr. Barbara Eason-Watkins was on hand at the Golf Outing to accept a ceremonial check for the proceeds from the Mayor and his wife, Agnes Meer. She said the money will be used for some of the school district's instructional technology needs, funding large screens for classrooms and Chromebooks that will be used at middle schools. "Updated technology is essential for our students," she said. "These funds come at a crucial time for us, and will help us meet this important need. We are grateful to all who contributed!"
