MCAS students honored in Human Rights Commission contest
Students were honored by the Commission and Mayor Ron Meer at a City Hall ceremony on February 25. This year, a record number of entries were received (600 in all); younger children submitted posters or other artwork, while middle and high school students submitted essays or poetry. The topic this year was "The Evolution of Civil Rights in these United States."
Prizes in grades K-6 were $50 (first place), $25 (second place) and $15 (third place); prizes for grades 7-12 included iPad minis and a laptop (first place), $100 VISA gift cards (second place), and Northwest Athletic Club memberships (third place). All received a free meal coupon from Top Dog.
Many thanks to all students who took part, and to the sponsors who supported this year’s contest!
