Pre-Kindergarten Information

Michigan City Area Schools strongly believes that early childhood education is critical in preparing our children for success in school. We are pleased to partner with the La Porte County YMCA and Imagination Station, which offer quality Pre-K programs for 3- and 4-year-olds. These programs are housed at MCAS elementary schools and are run by YMCA and Imagination Station staff.

MCAS Developmental Pre-K
Programs for Pre-K students with Special Needs are provided by Michigan City Area Schools at Niemann Elementary, 811 Royal Road. For more information, call the Special Education Department at (219) 873-2000, or visit the Special Ed Web page.  

The following Elementary Schools are partnering with the LaPorte County YMCA:
  • Coolspring Elementary School 
  • Pine Elementary School (also serving Joy, Lake Hills, and Edgewood students)
  • Springfield Elementary School
The following Elementary Schools are partnering with Imagination Station:
  • Knapp Elementary School
  • Marsh Elementary School
