2012 Summer School Info

Welcome

  • Pine Elementary School: A Magnet School for the Visual and Performing Arts is located in northeastern Porter County near the towns of Beverly Shores, Michigan City, and The Pines. It is the largest Pre-K through fifth grade elementary school in the Michigan City Area Schools Corporation and we pride ourselves on our diverse student population.

Our building is also the newest school sprawling over eighty-eight acres of land. Our campus provides our students with state-of-the-art technology, fine arts and visual arts integration as well as opportunities of dunes, wetland, and forest environmental studies.

This year, Pine Elementary became one of two magnet schools for the Michigan City Area Schools Corporation. It is ranked as an exemplary school with the State of Indiana. Grade level teams of teachers collaborate on science and social studies themes and integrate the arts using the State of Indiana approved standards. Each grade level team presents a showcase of their work once a year to the community. These showcases consist of live performances, student portfolios and classroom displays.

The school partners with local artists, community organizations, and local universities in order to accomplish this. We believe that we are living proof that the arts are transforming education in Michigan City!  Our doors are always open; please come and see the excitement of learning!
