ABOUT THIS ACTIVITY
The Naturalist Club provides children the opportunity to expand their interest in what happens in nature. Children who enjoy animals, are curious about the weather, or just simply love the outdoors are able to participate in educational activities through this club.
The children go outdoors to explore Joy’s very own courtyard pond and varieties of plant life. The children learn to plant bulbs in the fall and seeds or plants in the spring. When Mother Nature doesn't allow outdoor activities, exploration turns to information gathering, projects or virtual experiences. Topics in which the children are curious are studied as well as various other subjects in nature. Club members have studied the clouds, snowflakes, trees, birds, and the seasons – to name a few. Virtual trips to zoos across the country have been exciting. Club members were able to learn about worm behavior with the construction of a worm farm.
