Meet the Teacher

Hello!  My name is Mrs. Leady and I am the instructor for Health Academy I.  I bring many years of education and experience to the course.  I graduated from Purdue University with my Associate's Degree in Nursing (RN) and Valparaiso University with my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN), Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN), and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).

I have many years of collegiate level teaching including medical terminology, psychiatric nursing, and pharmacology.  I also have extensive clinical experience in family practice, psychiatric nursing, home health, gerontology, and corporate health and wellness.  I am nationally certified as a health and wellness educator.  I truly enjoy educating students and watching them succeed academically. I attempt to make the informational content interesting and fun.  I incorporate learning games, interactive hands-on activities, field trips, and guest speakers as it relates to the body system that we are covering.

I feel it is imperative that students not only broaden their knowledge base with content but also leave my course displaying professionalism and are equipped with employability skills.  I stress the importance of  professional behavior in my course.  My goal for my students is that they are well prepared, knowledgeable, and professional when they leave my classroom.  I have high expectations for my students and encourage them to reach for the stars and stress that nothing is impossible if they work hard and stay focused.

I treasure time with my family including my husband and 3 children.  I enjoy the outdoors and can be found running along the beach and hiking the dunes in the summer and skiing in the winter!!
