Personal: Served 20 years of active duty and 2.4 years of active reserve in the U.S. Marine Corps. Married for 21 years, 5 children, ages 19,17,13,10, and 8

The mission of the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps is six fold:
1)To develop informed and responsible citizens;
3)To enlighten the student about the elements and requirements of national security;
4)To teach the concepts of self-discipline, self-control, and confidence;
6) To expose the student to possible career and educational choices.

MCJROTC stands for Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps.
Fact 2
MCJROTC is a jointly sponsored Marine Corps and secondary school citizenship and leadership education program offered to students 14 years and older in grades 9-12.
Fact 3
MCJORTC is an educational program. Cadets are under no military obligation.
Fact 4
The objectives of the MCJROTC program are:
1. To develop informed and responsible citizens
2. To develop leadership skills
3. To strengthen character
4. To promote and understanding of the basic requirements of national security
5. To help form habits of self-discipline
6. To develop respect for an understanding of the need for constituted authority in a democratic society

MCJROTC cadets are provided with uniforms, books, training aids and other types of equipment paid for by the Marine Corps.

MCJROTC encourages cadet participation on Drill and Marksmanship teams, group athletics and other extra-curricular activities.
Fact 7
MCJROTC cadets take part in orientation visits to military installations, field trips to MCJROTC competitions and other activities to enhance their classroom studies.

The MCJROTC program is taught by retired Marine Corps officers and Senior Staff Non Commissioned Officers.

Courses
R93470: Marine Corps Junior ROTC LE I
4 Terms, 4 Credits
Grade Level: 9-11
Prerequisite: None. A student may enter JROTC at any term.
JROTC may be taken every year. This course is designed to instill into students the desire to accept responsibility utilizing various leadership techniques. Students are also introduced to problem solving, community service, and leadership practical application. Personal accountability and self-discipline are focal.*
R93500: Marine Corp Junior ROTC LE II
4 Terms, 4 Credits
Grade Level: 10-12
Prerequisite: For LE 2-4, completion of a previous LE program.
Leadership Education II (LE II) is a second-year course designed for sophomores and juniors. It explores each subject in greater detail than LE I and emphasizes leadership theory, style and principles. Some leadership roles are assigned to second-year cadets.
R93530: Marine Corp Junior ROTC LE III
4 Terms, 4 Credits
Grade Level: 11-12
Prerequisite: For LE 2-4, completion of a previous LE program.
Leadership Education III (LE III) is a third year course designed for high school juniors and seniors. It emphasizes leadership training and application. The majority of the cadet officers, rifle team, drill team, color guard, and instructor assistants are normally fourth and third-year cadets.
R93540: Marine Corp Junior ROTC LE IV
4 Terms, 4 Credits
Grade Level: 12
Prerequisite: For LE 2-4, completion of a previous LE program.
Leadership Education IV (LE IV) is a fourth year course designed for high school seniors. It emphasizes leadership training. Fourth year leadership training includes participation in leadership research, personal empowerment, methods of teaching and coaching, expansion of attitudes and beliefs, correct methods of interacting with authority, program management, and supervising school and community service.
R9400-01: Exhibition Drill
4 terms, 4 Credits: 10th, 11th, and 12th grades
Drill for public performance, both competitive and for entertainment, is studied and practiced on a daily basis. Students develop drill sequences for individual, dual, and multi-member routines. Preparation of students for actual performance on the MCJROTC Drill Team is focal. Members of the drill team travel each year and participate in approximately five drill meets. Students may earn a Varsity "P" letter as members of the MCJROTC Drill Team. This is a continuously building course and may be taken as many times as desired.
Studnets who elect to withdrawal form a JROTC class after two terms will receive two elective credits based on successful completion of the course.
*Four terms of JROTC excuse a student from one term of required Physical Education.
JROTC HAS NO MILITARY OBLIGATION WHATSOEVER. FOCUS IS ON PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT, LEADERSHIP, AND CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.
