Thank you for your interest in becoming a Substitute Bus Driver or Monitor with our Transportation Department!
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Please apply in person at the Transportation Department, 1100 South Woodland Avenue, Michigan City. Hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. You will be briefly interviewed and then may be asked to go to the Administration Building, 408 South Carroll Avenue, Michigan City. There you will be asked to complete paperwork, including an Application, I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification, a W4 and other payroll information, and consent forms for a background check.
Be sure to BRING WITH YOU the following items when applying to be a substitute bus driver or monitor:
- Fee for criminal background check ($28 cash or money order, payable to Michigan City Area Schools).
- Social Security Card (original) and one of the following: State issued ID, driver's license, birth certificate, or passport.
