Pre-Kindergarten Information
2013-14 School Year
Michigan City Area Schools strongly believes that early childhood education is critical in preparing our children for success in school. Unfortunatley, due to budgetary cutbacks, we are no longer able to offer free pre-kindergarten services for 3- and 4-year-olds.
However, we are pleased to announce that we have entered a partnership with the LaPorte County YMCA and Imagination Station, which offer quality Pre-K programs for 3- and 4-year-olds. These programs are housed at MCAS elementary schools and are run by YMCA and Imagination Station staff.

The following Elementary Schools are partnering with the LaPorte County YMCA:
- Coolspring Elementary School
- Knapp Elementary School
- Lake Hills Elementary School (also serving Niemann students)
- Pine Elementary School (also serving Joy and Edgewood students)
- Springfield Elementary School
Marsh Elementary School partners with Imagination Station. More information is available by calling Imagination Station at (219) 872-6723.
